Temporary pathway closures will be in effect around George Mason University’s Fairfax Campus as sidewalks, curbs, and crosswalks are repaired this summer.

In the summer of 2026, Arlington County will begin work on the final segment of the Wilson Boulevard Streetscape Improvement project, to widen sidewalks and implement safety improvements near Mason Square. The project will take place on Wilson Boulevard between North Kenmore Street and 10th Street North, and on parts of 10th Street North between North Jackson Street and North Ivy Street.

The sidewalk on Fairfax Drive near Fuse at Mason Square will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 6, and Sunday, Sept. 7, while a crane is parked in the area installing signage. Partial lane closures will be in effect in westbound lanes on Fairfax Drive.

Contractors will mill, pave, and restripe the Cannon Parking Lot and a section of the Beacon Hall Parking Lot at George Mason University's Science and Technology Campus on Friday, June 13, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Sidewalk closures will go into effect on Holton Plaza on Monday, May 19, to facilitate the replacement of the pedestrian bridge between the Music/Theater Building and the de Laski Performing Arts Building.

Contractors will complete tree work around the Fairfax Campus from Monday, March 10, through Friday, March 14.

The loading dock at the Johnson Center will be closed on Friday, March 7, 2025.

Renovation work in the atriums of Buchanan Hall, Horizon Hall, and the Johnson Center on the Fairfax Campus will start on Friday, Dec. 20. The projects will include the installation of additional guard rails on upper levels.
