CVPA faculty

  • Dr. Chelsea Wright (she/her), a music theorist, keyboardist, and teacher in the D.C. area. joined the George Mason University Dewberry School of Music faculty for the Spring 2026 semester and teaches Aural Skills.

  • Dr. Andrew Smith, bass-baritone, is a native Washingtonian. He graduated from George Mason University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Vocal Performance, studying with Professor Samuel L. E. Bonds.

  • A native of Dallas, Texas, Dr. Caroline Nielson is currently based in Washington, D.C., where she performs as an alto vocalist in the United States Army Chorus “Pershing’s Own.”

  • Dr. Calvin Evans Jr. is a composer and musicologist based in Northern Virginia. As a composer, he specializes in chamber music, jazz, and music for visual media.

  • Isaias Segui Asad is the Film and Video Studies Alumni Relations Intern. He is a Film and Videos studies student at George Mason University with a concentration in post-production.

  • Nancy Anderson is a 20-year veteran of Broadway, Off-Broadway and regional stages. She joined George Mason in 2026 as an Adjunct Applied Professor in Musical Theater Voice.

  • Dr. Stephen Scott will be teaching a Music Programming course for the Music Technology Area in the Spring 2026 semester for the Dewberry School of Music. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor in the College of Science at George Mason University, where he teaches data science, computational social science, and modeling & simulation courses.

  • Dr. Geoffrey Dean is a nationally renowned jazz pianist, composer, author and educator based in the Washington DC area. His music spans the entire genre of jazz from blues and hard bop influences to classical music, R&B and modern jazz. Dr. Dean will be teaching Jazz/Commercial Piano Class for the upcoming Spring 2026 semester.

  • Justin J. Holden, Founder and Principal Consultant of Holden Curated Content Advising (Holden CCA) specializes in creating strategic, integrated communications and content campaigns tailored to
    your specific needs. His approach and style is intentional, empathetic, and holistic, providing a deep
    understanding of nonprofits, the arts, corporate, and government sectors.

  • C. Lorenzo Evans III, MBA, is a visionary finance executive and lecturer with over 15 years of experience in accounting and financial management. With a deep commitment to the
    intersection of financial management and education, Evans’ work leverages his expertise to
    increase financial literacy and financial management competencies in both business and
    academic sectors.
