Building on the legacy of the former Prince William County Arts Council, the Hylton Performing Arts Center and Prince William County will be joining together to cosponsor the annual Arts Alive! Festival on Saturday, September 12.
The free family-friendly festival will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and feature performers and artists from across the region. Enjoy activities for both kids and adults, including hands-on makerspace workshops and multiple performances. Attendees can sing along with their favorite songs at a karaoke café, try out new moves at a Bubbles and Beach Balls Dance Party, enjoy readings by special guests at the Book Nook, listen to spoken word poetry, or browse crafts at the local artists showcase and sale. A selection of refreshments will be available from food trucks and a wine and beer garden (21+).
At 12 p.m., political satire comedy troupe Capitol Fools will take the stage in Merchant Hall for a lively headliner event. In a hilarious takedown of America’s crazy political culture, former cast members of Washington, D.C.’s, beloved institution, the Capitol Steps, will regale audiences with song parodies, irreverent impressions, and witty takes on the day’s news that skewer politicians of all persuasions. The event, recommended for ages 13 and up, is free, and seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis.
